Summer Literacy Camps
The Summer Literacy Camps at The Reading Studio are created to support children as they get ready for their next school year! Each day will consist of FUN and hands on learning activities that are appropriate for their rising grade. Our goal is to increase each child’s confidence and foster a joy of learning through strengthening their skills. Each day at The Reading Studio will be engaging, fun and meaningful for your child!
Each camp is set up for students to register for the grade level they will be going into in the fall.

Rising Pre-K :: Letters & Sounds through PLAY
In Letters & Sounds through PLAY students will practice:
phonological awareness (rhyming and identifying syllables and sounds in spoken words)
fine motor skills
letters and sounds
listening comprehension
background knowledge
school readiness social skills

Rising Kindergarten :: Reading ROOTS
In Reading ROOTS students will practice:
phonological awareness (rhyming, syllables & phonemic awareness)
fine motor skills
letters and sounds
letter formation
vocabulary
listening comprehension
school readiness social skills

Rising 1st :: Blast off with PHONICS
In Blast off with PHONICS students will practice:
phonological awareness (rhyming, syllables and phonemic awareness)
foundation of reading
phonics skills: digraphs, blends, silent “e”, spelling rules
reading fluency with skills taught (decodable)
sight words
vocabulary
comprehension

Rising 2nd Grade :: WORD Builders
In WORD Builders students will practice:
phonological awareness (review all skills)
phonics skills: short & long vowel sounds, digraphs, blends, spelling rules, silent "e”, vowel teams & more
reading fluency with skills taught (decodable)
irregular words
vocabulary
reading comprehension

Rising 3rd & 4th Grade :: Writer's Workshop
During WRITER’S WORKSHOP students will:
Spark their creativity by exploring their imaginations, craft unique stories, and grow confident in their writing abilities. Campers will dive into different writing genres – from fiction and poetry to personal narratives – developing a well-rounded foundation in storytelling and self-expression.
